Gestern, 15.10.2020, hat eine kleine Gruppe ernst gemacht. Vielleicht können wir doch noch in dieser Saison in Bitterwasser/Namibia fliegen. Elmar, unser rollstuhlfahrender ARCUS Pilot hat seinen ARCUS, wir unseren ARCUS und die Bitterwasser Gesellschaft Ihren ARCUS verladen. Damit waren drei ARCUS im Container. 

Es wäre noch Platz für ein viertes Flugzeug gewesen, aber erstens wollte niemand mehr sein Flugzeug runter bringen und zweitens soll eine EB28, die zur Zeit in Bitterwasser ist, nach der Saison zurück nach Deutschland geschafft werden. Dafür muss in dem einzigen Container der dieses Jahr nach Bitterwasser geht Platz bleiben.

Alle drei ARCUS wurden in einen Container verladen und auf den langen Weg nach Bitterwasser gebracht.

Morgens um 09:00 Uhr war Treffen, 13:00 Uhr kam der Zoll, 15:00 Uhr der Kran und um 16:00 Uhr der LKW.

Mitte November erwarten wir den Container in Bitterwasser. Ob wir selber aber dann dort sein können? Warten wir es ab. Drückt uns die Daumen. Heut kam die gute Nachricht, dass Namibia nicht mehr auf der RKI Liste der Risikoländer steht. Damit steht unserer Rückreise also nichts mehr im Weg. Sofern wir hin kommen und sich bis Februar nichts ändert. Aber wer weiß das in Corona Zeiten schon.

Jedenfalls ist das Wetter jetzt schon, im Oktober sehr gut.

Yesterday, 15.10.2020, a small group got serious. Maybe we can fly in Bitterwasser/Namibia this season after all. Elmar, our wheelchair ARCUS pilot has his ARCUS, we have our ARCUS and the Bitterwasser Society has their ARCUS. So there were three ARCUS in the container. 

There would have been room for a fourth plane, but firstly, nobody wanted to bring his plane down and secondly, an EB28, which is currently in Bitterwasser, should be brought back to Germany after the season. For this, there must be room in the only container that is going to Bitterwasser this year.

In the morning at 09:00 o'clock working started, 13:00 o'clock came the customs, 15:00 o'clock the crane and at 16:00 o'clock the truck.

In the middle of November we expect the container in Bitterwasser. But can we be there ourselves then? Let's wait and see. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Today we got the good news that Namibia is no longer on the RKI list of risk countries. So nothing stands in the way of our return journey. Provided we get there and nothing changes until February. But who knows in Corona times.

Anyway, the weather is already good now, in October very good.

Und es gibt doch eine Bitterwasser Saison -And yet there is a Bitterwasser season

 Dieses Jahr wird in die Geschichte als das erst Corona Jahr eingehen.

Es waren so viele Auf und Ab. Erst wurde gesagt keine Bitterwassersaison, dann doch, dann doch nicht und dann doch wieder.

Jetzt ist es klar. Es wird eine kleine Saison geben. Ein Container voll ist zusammen gekommen. Es wird eine kleine Gesellschaft werden in Bitterwasser. Das ist aber unter Corona Bedingungen gut so. Social Distancing ist unter diesen Bedingungen in Namibia kein Problem.

Heute haben wir für den 10.11.2020 den Flug bei Lufthansa (Eurowings) gebucht. Wir haben zwar noch einen Air Namibia Flug, aber den werden wir auf Grund der ungewissen Lage bei Air Namibia, sie wollen nicht vor Ende November 2020 international fliegen, auf das Jahr 2021 verschieben.

Am 15.10.2020 soll jetzt der Container gepackt werden. Jetzt muss alles schnell gehen. Der ARCUS soll vorher noch zur Jahreswartung nach Schempp-Hirth. Aber die Freunde bei SHK machen alles was geht.

Wir freuen uns schon unheimlich auf unsere zweite Heimat mit all den fantastischen Flügen über die Kalahari sowie die unvergesslichen Sonnenuntergänge.

This year will go down in history as the first Corona year.

There were so many ups and downs. First they said no Bitterwasser season, then they did, then they didn't and then they did again.

Now it is clear. There will be a small season. One container full has come together. It will be a small group at Bitterwasser. But that is good under Corona conditions. Social Distancing is no problem under these conditions in Namibia.

Today we have booked the flight with Lufthansa (Eurowings) for the 10.11.2020 We still have an Air Namibia flight, but due to the uncertain situation with Air Namibia, who do not want to fly internationally before the end of November 2020, we will postpone this flight to 2021.

On 15.10.2020 the container will be packed. Now everything must go fast. The ARCUS is to be taken to Schempp-Hirth for the annual maintenance. But the friends at SHK are doing everything possible.

We are really looking forward to our second home with all the fantastic flights over the Kalahari and the unforgettable sunsets.
